Brain Function In PTSD - Recruitment 2002
Inclusion Criteria For Experimental Group
- At least two episodes of interpersonal trauma
(physical abuse, sexual abuse and witnessing violence).
- Ages 10-16
- Last indexed trauma at least 6 months prior
to referral.
- Non-abusing caretaker willing to participate
in project.
- CPS report completed and substantiated.
- Current stable home environment with no exposure
to perpetrators.
Inclusion Criteria For Healthy Control Group
- No history of psychiatry treatment.
- No history of psychological trauma (interpersonal
violence or other).
- Ages 10-16
Exclusion Criteria For Experimental And Healthy
Control Groups
- Use of psychotropics (meds with CNS, ANS or
HPA activity) for two weeks prior to evaluation. If you are not sure,
research team will evaluate this criterion.
- Clinically significant medical illness.
- Gross obesity (150% of Ideal Body Weight) or
Growth Failure (height under 3rd percentile). If you are not sure, research
team will evaluate patient.
- Diagnosis of Autism or Schizophrenia.
- History of mental retardation or known IQ less
than 70.
- Metal or electrical conductive implants or
foreign bodies.
- History of alcohol or drug dependence or history
of abuse within the past 6 months. If you are not sure, research team
will evaluate this criterion.
- History of neurological disorder, such as seizures.
- Known drug or alcohol exposure in utero.
